Interactive Fountain “Clock” — Time Captured in Water, Light, and Sound
DION ART has created not just a fountain for the city of Zaporizhzhia, but a true philosophical art installation that speaks to both time and every person who stands beside it. “Clock” is a reminder that time is the most precious resource we all possess. It unites the past, present, and future into one seamless stream of life.
The Philosophy of Time
This fountain tells a story of eternity, life, fleeting moments, and memory. At its heart stands a symbolic centerpiece — a sculpture in the shape of an hourglass, one of the very first human attempts to measure time. It bridges eras, symbolizing that time cannot be owned by anyone — neither a person nor a city. Time follows its own path, and we merely touch it for a brief moment.
But this is not a static object. This is a living water clock, displaying the actual time through water jets and lighting effects. Every hour, the fountain comes to life, reminding everyone around it: treasure every second.
Aesthetics and Materials
The hourglass sculpture is made of polished stainless steel, acting as a mirror that reflects the world around it — people, sky, trees, and the city’s vibrant life. It’s a reminder that we are all part of this great timeline.
Cut-out numerals from 1 to 12 add an artistic layer, casting a play of light and shadow that turns steel into a poetic visual.
At night, the fountain transforms into the center of a stunning light show, with dynamic lighting effects highlighting every design detail. Special lighting scenarios can be customized for holidays, commemorative dates, and city festivals.
A Living Dialogue with People
“Clock” is a fully interactive fountain. Every visitor can become part of the show. When someone steps on the numbersof the dial, the fountain responds with bursts of water and waves of light.
The fountain displays the actual time using water jets and illuminated numbers, while built-in speakers announce the current hour — creating a magical blend of water, light, and sound.
Visitors are invited not only to watch but to feel time — by touching the water, listening to the gentle sounds, and watching light dance across the surface. This is not just a fountain — this is a philosophical public art installation that makes everyone think: how do I spend my own time?
A New Landmark for Zaporizhzhia
This interactive fountain will become a magnet for visitors, a symbol of contemporary art, and a philosophical highlight shaping the mood of the entire park.
“Clock” is not only about the past or future of Zaporizhzhia — it’s about everyone who lives their time right here and right now.
The Team’s Emotions
For the DION ART team, this project holds special meaning. Creating a fountain that makes people reflect on the value of time was both a challenge and an honor. We infused this work with our love for art, our technical expertise, and our desire to give Zaporizhzhia not just a beautiful public space, but a place with a deep meaning.
