Architectural Accent And Point Of Attraction

“Butterfly” is a landmark interactive light-and-sound installation for shopping malls, conceived as a family magnet and a выразительный architectural accent within the interior environment. Two wings create a bold, instantly recognizable silhouette approximately 7 meters wide, formed by 34 matte-white acrylic columns Ø150 mm (17+17). The opaque matte acrylic ensures a deep, uniform glow with no visible light sources — illumination appears as a “living material”: soft, elegant, and visually continuous. At the heart of the composition stands a butterfly body sculpture crafted from polished stainless steel, approximately 1.1 m high.

Intuitive Interactivity

The interactivity is based on a refined and intuitive gesture: sensors integrated beneath each column detect the approach of a hand and activate flowing light waves, smooth gradients, and a dynamic “wing-flap” effect across the wings. High-performance integrated luminaires allow for any color palette and lighting scenario — from subtle pastel transitions to vibrant festive compositions — easily adaptable to seasons, mall events, and tenants’ visual identities.

Light Supplemented By Sound

The light component is complemented by sound, reinforcing the perception of a truly “alive” object. Every interaction is paired with distinctive sounds and melodic fragments, forming a delicate musical atmosphere and heightening emotional impact. When multiple visitors engage simultaneously, “Butterfly” transforms into a synchronized collective experience: individual gestures blend into a shared light-and-sound choreography — always evolving and never repeating.

Two Operating Modes

Within a shopping mall, “Butterfly” functions not just as décor, but as a strategic tool for shaping a premium visitor experience: a recognizable landmark, a photogenic stage for content creation, and a natural focal point for family leisure. The installation operates in two modes:

  • Interactive mode — real-time response to visitors (light + sound).
  • Show mode — pre-programmed spectacular sequences performed regularly to gather audiences around the installation.
