Interactive Light-Based Play Platform for Public Spaces
LUMISTEPS is an interactive installation that transforms an ordinary area into a living play space that responds to human movement with light, color, and sound.
The installation combines an architectural object, a play platform, a light-art piece, and a technology-based attraction. Visitors do not simply observe the object — they become part of the experience: they step onto illuminated elements, trigger effects, create their own game scenarios, and interact with one another.
During the day, LUMISTEPS looks like a contemporary architectural installation. In the evening, it becomes a bright illuminated focal point that attracts attention from a distance.
Play, Light, and Movement
The installation is based on a field of interactive elements. Each element responds to pressure: it changes color, launches a lighting effect, and can be accompanied by a sound response.
This creates a simple and intuitive interaction mechanic: a person takes a step — and the space responds.
LUMISTEPS is suitable for individual play, group interaction, competitions, educational activities, branded scenarios, and light shows.

Each press can be accompanied by a sound effect, a musical signal, or a part of a larger composition. Light and sound are synchronized with each other, creating the feeling of a living interactive space.
In the evening, the platform can function as a light-art object even without active visitor participation: it can launch color waves, smooth transitions, dynamic effects, and decorative show modes.
Modular Construction
LUMISTEPS has a modular structure and can be adapted to the dimensions, geometry, and conditions of a specific site.
In the presented example, the installation consists of 55 interactive elements. Each element has its own RGB lighting and responds to visitor interaction.
The size of a single interactive element may vary depending on the task. In this configuration, the elements are 500 × 500 mm. Versions of 400 × 400 mm and other custom sizes are also possible.
The overall size of the module can also be changed. It depends on the number of interactive elements, the shape of the platform, the required usage scenario, and installation conditions.
For large-scale projects, the module can be assembled directly on the client’s site. This makes it possible to create large compositions adapted to a specific space.
Compact modules, for example 2350 × 2350 mm, are also possible. These can be supplied pre-assembled and installed on site more quickly.
Safety and Reliability
The installation is designed for active public use. The structure is engineered for intensive operation, high visitor traffic, and different working conditions.
Durable materials can be used for implementation, including stainless steel, tempered glass, professional lighting equipment, control systems, and a concealed acoustic system.
Upon request, the project can be adapted for outdoor placement, indoor spaces, seasonal operation, or permanent installation.
