ABOUT THE PROJECT

“Wealth of the Nation. Contemporary” is a contemporary interactive light and sound installation that reinterprets the national values of Kazakhstan through spatial composition, light architecture, and sound design. The project forms an open public environment for communication, movement, and personal engagement, where the visitor becomes an active participant in the artistic narrative. The installation operates as a living system: it reacts to presence, touch, and motion, translating abstract meanings into a tangible sensory experience.

ARCHITECTURAL COMPOSITION

The architectural concept is built around an ensemble of 14 vertical light columns, each 4 meters high and 710 mm in diameter, arranged in a perfect circle with a 14-meter diameter. This configuration establishes a precise architectural rhythm and creates an enclosed yet fully accessible spatial structure. Together, the columns form a symbolic circle of values — representing integrity, balance, and unity, with the human positioned at its center.

Each column embodies one of 14 key values of Kazakhstan, structured into two semantic groups:

DIGITAL DNA OF THE NATION

The surface of each column incorporates cut-out coded elements, adding a layered visual and conceptual dimension to the installation.

These include:

• digital sequences connected to significant dates in Kazakhstan’s history,
• geographic coordinates of important territories,
• numerical interpretations of cultural and philosophical ideas,
• encoded fragments of the Kazakh alphabet and traditional ornament.

Together, these elements construct a metaphorical digital DNA of the nation, linking past, present, and future into a unified narrative.

THE CENTER OF THE COMPOSITION — A POINT OF ATTRACTION

At the heart of the circle stands a 4-meter-diameter round podium, featuring a detailed relief map of modern Kazakhstan protected by impact-resistant glass. This central element serves as a place for rest, dialogue, and reflection, symbolizing the territorial and semantic core of the country. Standing on the podium, a person is literally positioned inside the map — at the center of the circle of values and meanings.

SEVEN RADIAL LIGHT RINGS

Between the central podium and the columns are installed seven concentric RGB radial light rings.

They represent:

• stages of development of both the state and the individual,
• the journey from origins to the future,
• the continuous flow of time and energy.

INTERACTIVITY: LIGHT, SOUND, AND TOUCH

The installation functions as a responsive interactive system.

When a visitor touches a column:

• a personalized lighting scenario is initiated,
• vertical light movement creates a “breathing” and “awakening” effect,
• a unique sound composition, developed specifically for that value, is activated.

Each column possesses its own lighting language, sound identity, and emotional resonance.

ARCHITECTURE AND MATERIALS

The structural core of each column is made from stainless steel, ensuring durability and long-term stability. The outer shell consists of white light-diffusing monolithic polycarbonate, providing soft and uniform illumination. Decorative components are fabricated from perforated stainless steel. During daylight hours, the installation maintains a refined architectural presence; at night, it transforms into a large-scale luminous landscape.

A NEW URBAN IDENTITY

“Wealth of the Nation” is conceived as:

• a new urban point of attraction for residents and visitors,
• a platform for intergenerational dialogue,
• a contemporary cultural symbol of Kazakhstan.

Thousands of photographs and videos created here extend the project’s presence beyond its physical site. The installation merges art, technology, and public space into a single cohesive urban landmark.
