The Light-Dynamic Fountain “Arch” – A Symbol of Freedom in Mariupol’s Main Square
In 2020, DION ART implemented one of Ukraine’s most unique light-dynamic dry deck fountains – the “Arch” fountain in Freedom Square in Mariupol. This is not just a fountain but a piece of public art, transforming the perception of urban space and creating a unique atmosphere that brings people together.

A Dry Deck Fountain – A New Dimension of Urban Space
The “Arch” fountain is an example of modern architectural form, combining aesthetics, functionality, and technology. Unlike classic fountains with a basin, this dry deck fountain allows residents and visitors to walk freely through the water arches, stroll across the fountain plaza, enjoy the coolness, and interact with the water streams.

Additionally, all technical equipment is placed underground, making the fountain vandal-resistant and fully protected from external influences.

Water Arches – A Mesmerizing Geometry of Movement
The key feature of the fountain is its 120 laminar jets, creating perfectly smooth and symmetrical water arches up to 3.5 meters high. In static mode, they form a stable geometric composition through which people can walk, feeling the refreshing coolness of the water.

In dynamic mode, the fountain comes to life: the arches gracefully rise and fall, transforming the space and creating the effect of the water “breathing.” This makes the fountain not just an element of landscape design but an interactive public art installation that invites interaction.

The Play of Light Enhancing the Beauty of Water
The “Arch” fountain is equipped with 120 RGB lights, which programmatically control color, saturation, and intensity. In the evening, the water arches turn into glowing curves, shimmering in various hues.

Each light can function individually or synchronize into a single composition, creating spectacular light effects. This allows for adjusting the fountain’s atmosphere for different occasions, from a calm evening glow to vibrant dynamic shows.

Advanced Technology – Precision and Automation
The fountain is equipped with an automatic control system, ensuring its seamless operation and minimizing maintenance efforts.

The automatic water level control system prevents overflows and protects the equipment. Intelligent wind force control adjusts the height of the jets, adapting the fountain to weather conditions. Automatic filtration and ultraviolet purification systems ensure crystal-clear water quality.
