“Values of Democracy” Art Installation – A Symbol of Freedom, Time, and Unity
Project for Cleveland, Ohio (2023)
DION ART presents the conceptual art installation “Values of Democracy,” developed in 2023 for Cleveland, Ohio. This project is dedicated to the fight for freedom, the power of time, and the unbreakable bond between nations, reflecting the shared democratic values of the United States and Ukraine
Concept and Philosophy
The installation consists of three separate yet interconnected elements that together form a unified artistic and philosophical statement
The central installation symbolizes time. A simple clock represents the passage of history and the struggle for freedom, emphasizing that true democracy requires time, effort, and dedication to the values of liberty
The right installation represents the United States. Decorated with the American flag and key national symbols such as the Statue of Liberty and stars, it reflects the country’s democratic traditions and commitment to human rights
The left installation represents Ukraine. It is adorned with national patterns, including Petrykivka painting, an important part of the country’s cultural heritage. This element symbolizes the Ukrainian people’s fight for independence, culture, and freedom
Design and Artistic Solutions
The installation is made of stainless steel, with flags and symbolic elements hand-painted using special weather-resistant paints and sealed with a protective lacquer. This ensures durability, resistance to environmental conditions, and vibrant colors
As night falls, the installation comes to life with light, casting colorful reflections onto the surrounding space. The lighting transitions smoothly, symbolizing energy, movement, and the interconnection of nations. The colors correspond to the seven chakras of the human body, enhancing the installation’s deep emotional and spiritual impact
Interactivity and Emotions
This project is designed for public engagement and interaction
Visitors can touch the installations, take photos, and explore different perspectives
At night, the surrounding plaza is illuminated by the installation’s reflections, filling the space with dynamic light and meaning
This landmark is intended to be a point of attraction in a modern city, a gathering place for discussions, reflection, and celebration of democratic values
