In 2019, DION ART developed a unique project — the art installation “Symbol of Ukraine,” reimagining the classic national emblem in the format of contemporary public art. The installation stands 11 meters tall, making it a powerful visual landmark in the urban space. It is not just a symbol, but the voice of the country, embodying its historical memory and vision for the future.

Philosophy and Meaning

The “Symbol of Ukraine” is a modern interpretation of the Trident, blending the past, present, and future into a single form. Its golden color refers to the official emblem, the warmth of the sun, and the vast Ukrainian wheat fields. It is a symbol of freedom, strength, and national pride — created to inspire and remind every Ukrainian of their heritage.

The installation speaks the language of today, combining dynamic lighting, advanced materials, and the potential for multimedia integration. It captures the spirit of a renewed Ukraine — strong, independent, and bold.

Artistic Concept and Details

The height of 11 meters is intentional. This scale emphasizes the importance of the symbol, making it visible from afar and impossible to ignore. The golden color not only highlights its historical significance but also allows the installation to literally shine in the sunlight, transforming it into a beacon of Ukrainian identity.

The side panels of the Trident feature the words “My Kyiv,” paying tribute to the city where this version of the installation was conceived. In every other city where the installation appears, the name will change to reflect that local community — creating a personal connection between the symbol and its home. The design also incorporates wheat stalks, symbolizing Ukraine’s fertile lands, peace, and hard-working spirit.
