About The Project

“Wealth of the Nation” is a monumental interactive light and sound installation devoted to the fundamental national values of Kazakhstan. The project redefines the concept of wealth through people, culture, knowledge, unity, and the future, shaping a contemporary public symbol and a new urban point of attraction.

By integrating architecture, light, sound, and tactile interaction, the installation creates an environment where visitors are not passive spectators but active participants in a shared cultural dialogue.

Architectural Concept

The composition is formed by 14 vertical light columns arranged in a precise circular layout with a 14-meter diameter. This spatial rhythm establishes a unified public zone designed for movement, communication, and personal engagement with the embedded meanings.

Each column functions as an autonomous architectural element with its own identity, yet together they compose a cohesive ensemble that expresses the principle of national unity.

Fourteen Wealths

Each column embodies one of the essential national values
(the list may be adapted according to the project context):

Historical Wealths

  • Land
  • Generational Continuity
  • Culture
  • Knowledge
  • Unity
  • Freedom
  • Hospitality

Contemporary Wealths

  • Human Capital
  • Innovation
  • Harmony with Nature
  • Justice
  • Openness to the World
  • Peace
  • Future

Details and Symbolism

The top of every column is cut at a 30-degree angle, directed toward the center of the circle. This architectural gesture visually connects all elements and strengthens the concept of shared meaning.

Each column incorporates a modern interpretation of the State Emblem of Kazakhstan, acting as a unifying motif that represents continuity, unity, and the common foundation of society.

Metal components are engraved with concise statements and mottos in Kazakh, English, and Russian, ensuring cultural authenticity, international accessibility, and preservation of meaning over time.

Central Podium and Public Space

At the core of the installation stands a 4-meter-diameter circular podium, featuring a relief map of contemporary Kazakhstan protected by impact-resistant glass.

The podium:

  • provides a space for sitting and rest,
  • stimulates reflection and dialogue,
  • represents the conceptual and territorial center of the nation.

Visitors physically position themselves within the map — symbolically standing at the heart of shared values.

Interactivity: Light and Sound

The installation operates as a system of dynamic interaction.

When a visitor touches a column:

  • a programmed lighting sequence is activated,
  • light travels vertically along the structure, creating an “awakening” effect,
  • a distinct sound composition linked to that value begins to play.

Every column possesses its own lighting behavior, acoustic identity, and emotional atmosphere. Values are not only observed — they are experienced through direct interaction.

Subtle internal illumination remains perceptible during daylight, while at night the installation transforms into a vivid light landscape with smooth gradients and expressive transitions.

Mobile Application

The dedicated “Wealth of the Nation” mobile application functions as a digital continuation of the physical space.

Through the app, users can:

  • access extended descriptions of each value,
  • listen to audio guides and original sound compositions,
  • deepen their understanding of the cultural and emotional narrative.

Available in seven languages, the application ensures accessibility for an international audience — introducing tourists to Kazakhstan’s cultural code while offering residents a medium for preserving and transmitting values to future generations.

Architecture and Materials

The installation includes:

  • columns 4 meters in height with a 710 mm diameter,
  • a load-bearing structure made of stainless steel,
  • an external shell of white light-diffusing polycarbonate,
  • decorative medallions and elements crafted from stainless steel.

These materials reinforce clarity of form, structural durability, and the installation’s long-term presence in public space.

Cultural Significance

“Wealth of the Nation” is envisioned as a contemporary cultural landmark — a place where the modern identity of Kazakhstan takes spatial form.

Beyond being an art object, the installation becomes a recognizable symbol that generates photographs, videos, and personal experiences, extending the project’s message far beyond its physical boundaries.

Project Summary

“Wealth of the Nation” forms a circle of values where each column acts as a living interlocutor, and every visitor becomes part of Kazakhstan’s cultural code.
