Floating Stones: is a large-scale kinetic installation that transforms the interior space of a building into an impressive nature-inspired art object.

The composition consists of suspended stone islands that seem to defy the laws of gravity: massive rock fragments float in the air, slowly change position, rise and descend, creating the feeling of a living landscape above the viewer.

The installation brings together architecture, nature, kinetics, light, and greenery. It creates the effect of the impossible — the stones appear heavy, yet they float through space with lightness and calm. This immediately attracts attention, evokes surprise, and makes people want to stop, examine the details, and take photos or videos.

Nature Lifted into the Air

The main idea of the installation is to present nature as a force that goes beyond its familiar form.

Stone is usually perceived as a symbol of weight, stability, and the earth. In “Floating Stones”, this image is reinterpreted: heavy rock fragments detach from the surface and become an aerial composition.

Plants, moss, ornamental grasses, flowers, and soft lighting can be integrated into the stones. As a result, each element looks like a small fragment of a natural landscape transferred into an architectural space.

The installation creates the impression that pieces of ancient earth have risen into the air and begun to live their own life.

Kinetics and Movement

The key feature of the project is kinetic movement.

Each suspended unit can smoothly change its height, creating slow waves, rhythmic scenarios, and complex spatial transformations. The maximum lowering distance of a unit can reach 10 meters, making it possible to create expressive vertical dynamics in high atriums and large public spaces.

The movement can be calm and meditative — almost imperceptible, like the breathing of the space. Or it can be more expressive, with the stone islands forming waves, cascades, rises, and synchronized compositions.

As a result, the object never appears static. It changes over time, creates different visual states, and is perceived in a new way each time.

The Atmosphere of a Living Space

“Floating Stones” works especially well in large interior spaces — places with height, air, light, and a steady flow of people.

The installation can become the central dominant feature of an atrium, shopping gallery, hotel, business center, airport, cultural center, or public space.

During the day, the object is perceived as an architectural nature-inspired sculpture. In the evening, or with special lighting, it transforms into an atmospheric kinetic composition where stones, plants, and light create the feeling of a floating garden.

Such an object does more than decorate a space. It changes its character, making the interior feel more alive, emotional, premium, and memorable.

An Object That Attracts People

“Floating Stones” works as a strong point of attraction.

Visitors look upward, stop, photograph the object, and observe its movement. The installation performs especially well in spaces with high pedestrian traffic because it is visible from a distance and forms a memorable visual image.

For a shopping center, it can become a central art object that raises the status of the space and generates visitor content.
For a hotel, it can be a premium installation in the lobby or atrium.
For a business center, it can become a symbol of contemporary architecture and a technology-driven environment.
For a cultural space, it can be an object that connects art, nature, and engineering mechanics.

Where the Installation Can Be Used

“Floating Stones” is especially well suited for spaces with large ceiling heights and open volumes.

The installation can be placed:

in shopping centers;
in business center atriums;
in hotels and resort complexes;
in airports and transport hubs;
in museums and cultural centers;
in exhibition spaces;
in modern residential developments;
in public galleries;
in restaurants and premium lounge areas;
in corporate headquarters.

The object can be developed as a permanent architectural installation or as a temporary kinetic project for an exhibition, forum, festival, or branded presentation.

Safety and Control

The installation is designed as an engineered system for public spaces.

All kinetic elements are controlled by software, and the movement of the units can be synchronized, height-limited, and adapted for safe operation.

The system includes video surveillance, which can be used to monitor the space, control the operation of the installation, and provide additional safety in the area where the object is installed.

“Floating Stones” — Architectural Nature in Motion

“Floating Stones” is an installation that combines natural aesthetics, kinetic technologies, and expressive architectural form.

It creates the effect of weightlessness, impresses with its scale, brings the space to life, and forms a strong visual center. Such an object can transform an ordinary atrium or public space into a place that people remember, photograph, and associate with the entire location.

This is not simply ceiling decor. It is a floating landscape that moves, breathes, and turns architecture into a living experience.
